In this position you will be responsible for
Analysis of existing compute resources (HPC & Workstations)
Development of a long-term Scientific Computing concept
Building a new service unit for the support of scientific research groups from the ground up
Working on applications for national and international grants with the goal to extend the compute resources at Max Perutz Labs
Budgeting for and purchasing of all investments and replacements regarding existing compute structures
Administration and extension of existing high-performance compute clusters and application servers together with the system administrators
Working closely with the Head of IT and Max Perutz Labs scientists as well as with core facility staff
Successful candidates should have
In-depth experience in IT, especially in working with compute clusters and ideally hold a degree in informatics
Project management skills, e.g. from working in a service unit
Work experience in a similar position (ideally)
Excellent communication and networking skills
Profound knowledge in high-performance computing
Basic knowledge in system administration (ideally)
A reliable, service-oriented, self-organized personality
The ability to work in a team and heterogenous environments
Basic knowledge of German language and very good knowledge of English language
diversified tasks in a rapidly changing environment with flat hierarchies
Home office up to 50%

We offer a fulltime position (40 hours/week) with a salary of EUR 3.500,00 gross. Of course, we will offer a market-based overpayment depending on your qualifications.
